Hello Neha, I'm glad you liked it. This may depend on how you study/work but I find note taking important for couple of reasons:
- Usually what you read will not mean the same thing to you when you read it after some time again. The first impression of what you read can be captured by taking notes of what you understand at that moment. I find it useful because just like in many things as you keep learning more about something, we sometimes block our vision by the limitations of what can be done with this knowledge. However, when we first learn about something it is mostly excitement and all the creative ideas that flows in our mind.
- Note taking requires you to engage more with the text. You start writing, paraphrasing, which in turn helps internalizing the knowledge.
- Another advantage of note taking is that even though you do not keep reading on a specific topic, it will be easier for you to remember it by reading your own notes rather than going through all the materials you've read because you write it in your own words as you understood it. I find it easier to re-learn.
If you don't like to take notes but would like to take notes, I recommend try to change the way you take notes, maybe try digital, or try pen-paper.
Hope this helps! :)
